2020-2021 Back to School News
The 2020-2021 handbook has been fully updated and is available on the web site at https://chspanthers.com/new/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/chs_handbook-2020-2021.pdf.
Student schedules are now viewable on Family Portal (formerly ParentsWeb). Please be aware that, due to capacity limitations, schedules cannot be changed at this time. Unless there is an error in the schedule, such as a course duplication, changes will not be allowed.
Student parking passes must be pre-paid online. The link to purchase parking passes is available at https://geauxbigred.com/product/2020-2021-student-parking-pass/. Please read details on parking requirements and restrictions before purchase.
We are grateful for the patience and support families have extended as our faculty and staff worked tirelessly to create a plan to allow for our students to return to campus and still keep them as safe as possible. Our Return to School Plan is now available online at https://chspanthers.com/new/blog/2020/07/25/2020-2021-return-to-school-plan/. We have also created infographics and a visual overview of the plan.
We realize that the current mask mandate has some families concerned about comfort and their children’s ability to comply for an entire school day. We are blessed with a large, spacious campus with spaces suitable for outdoor learning. Teachers have the flexibility to schedule mask breaks throughout the day while still maintaining compliance with health mandates.
New Main Entrance
Part of our return plan includes creating a closed campus, at the recommendation of the Diocese of Lafayette. To assist with this, we have created a new main entrance, located in the school’s Administration Building at the Admiral Doyle at Bank Street light. More information on this is included in the detailed return plan.
The orientation schedule will see a change from previous years. On Wednesday, August 5, we will hold orientation for seniors using a staggered schedule similar to the one we used for turn-in days in May. On Thursday, August 6, we will hold orientation for grades 4-11 in the same way, with siblings all attending in the same 30-minute time slots. Details regarding times for families will be shared this week.
All procedures for morning arrival detailed in the return plan will be followed. Mask usage will be enforced. During their short time on campus students will need to:
- Turn in the return to school waiver.
- Report to the Matt Gym to take an ID picture. Grooming will be checked. Masks may be removed briefly for the picture.
- Report to the cafeteria to pick up a bagged lunch (optional). Students who want a bagged lunch must complete this form no later than Monday, August 3, 2020. Do not complete the form if you are not getting a lunch.
- Report to Disch Gym for PE uniform (students in grades 6-12 only, as needed). If pre-payment was not completed online, students must have $10 for each piece they need to purchase. Replacement uniforms are also available throughout the year.
- Visit classrooms. Students will go to their classrooms to meet their teachers and get some vital basic information to start the year.
Spring 2020 Virtual Awards
We are deeply sorry that we could not acknowledge the academic achievements of our students at the close of last school year. We had such a wonderful response to our Senior Virtual Awards that we decided we just couldn’t wait any longer. Here, we present to you the 2019-2020 Virtual Academic Awards.

School Supply Lists for Grades 4-8
We are once again conducting a survey to our parents that may be interested in utilizing a bus service to and from CHS from the Broussard and St. Martinville areas. We offered a service to these areas last year (bus is driven by a CHS faculty member) and it seemed to work well for our families. Please take a moment to fill out the survey by clicking the link below. Also, please know that expressing an interest is not by any means a commitment. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding this. Thank you for your time and have a great summer!
