A Message from the Bishop on the Upcoming School Year
Catholic School Families, Pastors, Administrators and School Faculties:
As Louisiana enters Phase II Reopening, many are wondering about the status of the upcoming 2020-2021 school year in the Diocese of Lafayette. As some restrictions are being lifted and guidelines continue to evolve, the safety of our students, faculty and staff remains our highest priority. The Office of Catholics Schools will continue to monitor guidance set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Louisiana Department of Health, the Office of the Governor, local government, the Louisiana High School Athletic Association and our legal advisors. The Office of Catholic Schools is committed to responding to experts’ guidance once our state transitions into Phase III and beyond. Once best practices are outlined, school sites will communicate to their Catholic school families all of the procedures, protocols and plans relative to the 2020-2021 school year.
With every good wish, I am Faithfully yours in Christ,
Most Reverend J. Douglas Deshotel, D.D. Bishop of Lafayette
