Email to Families 04-21-20
Dear Catholic High families,
As you may remember from last week, the Bishop and the Diocese of Lafayette decided on end dates for distance learning and the closure of diocesan schools. During the last 5 weeks, the faculty and staff have worked tirelessly to communicate daily with you and students. At this time, we are grateful that this recent announcement will not impact a single planned instructional day for seniors or younger students. Our students have not fallen behind, and they are on track for the completion of the academic year.
As previously announced, the last day of virtual instruction for seniors will be Friday, May 1, and the last day of distance learning classes for grades 4-11 will be Thursday, May 14, with a catch-up and closure day on Friday, May 15. Details on senior activities and what those last days will include, as well as when students at all levels will be allowed to come to campus to turn in devices and textbooks, will be announced as soon as they can be worked out.
We realize that we are in an unprecedented time with the COVID-19 pandemic. While we must continue to operate with our standard business practices, we are committed to supporting our families through this crisis. We are currently analyzing our school budget, income, and expenses so that we can issue credits, full or partial, where applicable. At this time, for your May statements, please look for credits for sports fees, NASA field trip, Kairos, ACT Boot Camp, and testing fees for lower grades.
Please know that we have endless gratitude for the strength and support of the Catholic High family at this time. Thank you for the patience and ongoing communication as we have worked to create a sense of security and consistency in the lives of our children as they continue to learn and grow under the guidance of their teachers to fulfill our mission of academic excellence in a Christian environment during this time. We want to also continue to support you: parents as partners in the education of our children and as members of our Catholic school faith community. Please keep in touch! We will make it through this together with the grace of God and the faith, hope, and love of our Catholic High community!
With Panther Pride and trust in God’s plan for our lives,
Stella J. Arabie, Ed.D.
