2019-2020 End of First Semester Information

Dear parents,

It is hard to believe that we are nearing the end of the semester, the year, and the decade! This email will give you some information for the busy weeks ahead and beyond!

Preparing for Exams–Teachers in grades 6-12 will be reviewing for exams this week! All students will receive an exam review sheet, either digital or hard copy, by Monday, December 9. This may have specific questions or areas to review for the exam, or it may have more of a format of what to expect. Our 6th graders are new to the exam process, and freshmen are new to exams that are a larger part of the semester total grade; therefore, their teachers are working closely with these students to help them prepare. During exam week, teachers will be at school at 8:15 for any help that students may need. Our library will be open at 8:00 on exam days for students who want a quiet place to study.

Exams for Enrichment and Middle School PE–Regarding exams for 6-8 grade classes that meet in our enrichment rotation–All students will take their PE exams on the regular exam day. In lieu of a formal exam, enrichment teachers have assigned culminating activities/projects.

Exam Week Schedule–Please check the attached exam schedule for specific exams and  times. Here is an overview:

  • Monday, December 16–Dead Day is regular take-in time with a 12:30 dismissal and lunch for all grades. 6th grade will be a part of the AR party for those who made their AR points.

  • Tuesday through Thursday, December 17-19–We begin at 8:50 and end at 12:30. Lunch will be served for grades 4-8 during these three days

  • Friday, December 20–We begin at 8:50 and dismiss at 10:30. For our high school zero hour course, the exam will be given at 7:00 until 8:30. No lunch is served this day. Grades 4-5 do not come to school.

  • If a high school student has an “off period” due to a zero hour class or a dual enrollment online elective, the student does not need to report to school during that period; however, the student must sign in and sign out in the high school office. Of course, we recommend that the student stays at school to study!

  • Generally, teachers will not have exam grades available until January when we return to school.

Bus Service on Exam Days--Please refer to the exam schedule for bus service. All parents of elementary students who must ride a bus on exam days should arrange for before school care. Before school care and after school care will be available through Mrs. Anna Davis at 337-380-2090.

Make Up Exams–No exams may be taken early. Make-up exams for illness or special circumstances will be administered beginning on Monday, January 6 at 12:30. Students may take more than one exam that day if needed. Students who need to take a make-up exam should report to the guidance department no later than 12:30 with all required materials. No uniform is required.
