2019 Back to School Night

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT IS WEDNESDAY, and we’d like to offer some tips for you to make this the best one ever. Remember, this is the night you get to meet your child’s teacher(s) and hear how you can be a strong partner in his/her education.

  1. BE PROMPT: Don’t be tardy! Park in the student lot on de La Salle Drive to access your child’s building. We pack a lot of information into a short time, so it is essential to stay on schedule. Grades 4 and 5 begin classes at 5:15 PM, there is a general assembly for all parents in the gym at 6:00 PM, and grades 6 through 12 begin classes at 6:20 PM.
  2. BE PREPARED: Write down your child’s schedule or take a screenshot so you will know where you are supposed to be and which class period. If you have a middle schooler, be sure to talk with your child about how to navigate to classes, especially when moving across campus. We will send a map via email this week to help you out.
  3. BE READY TO LISTEN: Teachers have a short time with each class to introduce themselves, discuss the content of their classes, explain their grading procedures, review their rules and expectations, and describe how your child can get the most out of their classes. That’s a LOT! This is not a Parent-Teacher Conference Night. If you have a question or concern specific to your child, please email your child’s teacher so that it can receive the attention it deserves.
