Welcome to CHS

The following teachers and coaches will be joining our talented faculty and staff for the 2019-2020 school year. Please join us in welcoming them all!

Ms. Julia Bertrand joins us from Hamilton Christian Academy in Lake Charles. Julia is the mother of four young adults and a life-long educator who has served as a teacher and an administrator for over 25 years in both public and private schools in Jefferson Davis parish.  As a veteran educator, she has taught all math subjects from 6th grade through Calculus. Ms. Bertrand will join our math department teaching primarily high school courses, including a new course, Algebra III, which will be offered for the first time at CHS this coming school year.

Ms. Leslie Bertrand will be joining our elementary faculty as a fourth grade teacher.  She comes to us with 20 years of experience in Iberia, St. Mary, and St. Martin parishes.  She is not a stranger to CHS as she has served the role of supporter and parent to rising senior Jonah Peltier.

Mrs. Tiffany Schwing Breaux is already a familiar face around campus. She joins our high school English department this year after serving as a long term sub twice last year.  While the majority of her teaching experience is from her work in Iberia Parish public schools, Mrs. Breaux previously taught at Catholic High in the late 90’s and is the mother of two CHS alumni, Alex (2010) and Sam (2015).

Mr. Karl Broussard will join the CHS family as a teacher and a coach.  He is recently retired from the public school system where he served in many roles during his career in Lafayette and Vermilion parishes, including serving as Athletic Director at Lafayette High for many years.   He has two adult children and four grandsons. For the coming school year, Coach Broussard will teach sixth grade Social Studies.

Mrs. Haley Bryant joins our faculty as an assistant librarian and digital arts teacher.  Originally from Alexandria and the daughter of two artists, she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts with a concentration in Graphic Design from UL-Lafayette.  As a mother of two young daughters, she chose to obtain her teaching certification to compliment her vast experiences in the arts. Mrs. Bryant will also serve as a member of the development team as Catholic High’s Graphic Designer.

Mr. Taylor Ducote is a 2008 graduate of CHS who, since graduation, has earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Mathematics.  He has a wide variety of experience teaching math at the middle school, high school, and university levels. We are excited that Taylor has decided to return to his alma mater to join our math department and technology team.  In his personal time, Taylor enjoys math, puns, chess, and being the dad of an 18-month old daughter and will welcome his second child any day now.

Mrs. Robin Hayes will join our CHS family as Retreat Team Leader.   While her professional experience is as an engineer and design specialist, Mrs. Hayes has devoted much of her time to sharing her faith through various church programs in Louisiana and Texas, including serving most recently as Religious Education Coordinator at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Houston, TX.  With her move back to Louisiana, Mrs. Hayes is looking forward to joining the CHS faith community by helping our students and faculty grow closer to Christ and live virtuous lives. She will work closely with our Religion teaching faculty and under the direction of the Director of Faith and Formation.

Ms. Reygan Jagneaux comes to Catholic High as a graduate of McNeese State University with a degree in elementary education.  She has applied and been accepted to the discernment program with the Community of Jesus Crucified in St. Martinville. She will enter the discernment program in June, and starting in August, she has been given permission by Father Champagne, the superior of the order,  to teach while entering into the life of prayer of the Community. She will join the teaching faculty of our Religion department.

Ms. Susan Lopez is a veteran teacher of Iberia Parish public schools. She will be a welcome addition to our elementary building as a fourth grade teacher. Susan is the mother of alumnus Parker Lopez (CHS 2015) who is currently deployed with the US Marine Corps and current panther Christopher Mire (CHS 2027).

Ms. Meredith Musso is a 2015 Catholic High graduate, returning to teach English in our middle school after earning her undergraduate degree in English Secondary Education from Louisiana State University, this spring.  Meredith will also join our soccer coaching staff.

Mr. Cade Romero is a familiar face around the softball diamond. After serving as assistant last year, Mr. Romero steps into the Head Coach role for Lady Panther Softball this year.

Ms. Sydney Talley is an experienced world languages instructor who is currently teaching English to Chinese students.  Since graduating from LSU with a bachelor’s degree in French International Studies, she has taught in Lafayette Parish, worked with CODOFIL and VIPKID, an online immersion program.  She joins our faculty as our new French teacher.

Mrs. Lindsey McDonald Valls is a 2003 Catholic High graduate and veteran of Iberia Parish public schools. She will be teaching English and religion classes in our middle school.  She is the mother of three children, all of whom will be future Panthers.
