AdvancEd School Improvement Journey

 In Uncategorized

One of the hallmarks of an accredited institution is a commitment to continuous improvement, as demonstrated by thorough school improvement planning. Stakeholders may recall participating in several surveys last spring. These were just the start of many steps in Catholic High’s school improvement journey.

Beginning last spring and continuing through all of this school year, we have been engaged in an in-depth self-study in preparation for our accreditation renewal. Parents will have also noticed a few early dismissal and professional development days dedicated to the process. This time has been used for our faculty to jointly analyze study results and develop a school improvement action plan.

Based on a five-year term, accreditation is a voluntary method of quality assurance recognized for its ability to effectively drive student performance and continuous improvement in education at all levels. Institutions seeking to gain or maintain accreditation by AdvancED must meet AdvancED Performance Standards. Standards focus on systems within an institution and systematic methods of attaining high student performance and organizational effectiveness.

An institution’s adherence to AdvancEd Performance Standards is determined by an Engagement Review, completed by a team of highly qualified professional evaluators. The rigorous process includes diagnostic analysis, interviews with stakeholders and observations of instruction, learning, and operations. Catholic High’s Engagement Review will take place from March 12-14, 2018.

We appreciate your support and prayers as we prepare for this culmination of our school improvement journey. We know it will equip our leadership and stakeholders to maintain areas of high performance and tackle those areas that may be thwarting desired performance levels.

The AdvancED engagement process represents the unified process for the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and Institution Improvement (NCA CASI), the Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Institutions Council on Engagement and Institution Improvement (SACS CASI). Institutions seeking to earn and maintain NCA CASI, NWAC or SACS CASI accreditation follow the AdvancED Engagement Process as briefly described above.
