2017-2018 Transportation Procedures

 In News

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your patience in our afternoon car line on the first days of school.  When there are no busses, we must get approximately 500 students into vehicles safely.  In a continuing effort to improve the safety and efficiency of our car line procedures for you and your children, we are asking for your help with the following:

  1. Car line name tags – We are asking that all drivers who pick up car riders begin using name tags when picking up students in the afternoon.  A very functional and visible way to display the Car Line tag is to use a small “baby” hanger with a clip. (Please see the picture.)  If you are in need of a hanger or if you are unable to make your own car line tag, please let us know and we will provide one to you.
  2. Designated numbered pick-up points – Rather than students entering vehicles at several different places in the line, we will have designated pick-up points. Using the name tags, teachers on duty will call students to the numbered spots. These three spots, located near the 100 hall past the speed bump, are the only places that students will be allowed to enter vehicles. After you drive over the speed bump, we ask that you pull all the way up to the last open spot before your child enters.

We are confident that with the cooperation of all people involved, this procedure can be a safer and more efficient system. Please encourage your students to follow the rules and pay attention to the directions that will be given.

Together, we can make it work! We appreciate your support and assistance.

Walkers:

We would like to issue a reminder of our afternoon procedures that are created to better ensure the safety our students.  If your child is a “walker” and will be leaving campus on foot (including walking to McDonald’s), we must have a note on file granting us permission to allow your child to leave school unsupervised.  Fourth and fifth graders may only leave if accompanied by an older student, who must be specified in the written permission slip.  Please note:  Once students leave campus, they will not be allowed to return.  This policy is clearly stated in our school handbook.

After School Supervision:

Students in grades 4-8 MUST be picked up after school no later than 3:30 p.m. After this time, the duty teacher will walk the student to after school care, and parents may pick students up in the aftercare room (Rm. 508). Parents will be billed on an hourly basis for this service. This policy is implemented for the safety of your child/ren. Teachers are on duty until 3:30 p.m., and offices close at 3:30 p.m.  Parents are reminded that there is no supervision of students on campus before 7:15 a.m. and after 3:30 p.m., other than for school activities directed by Catholic High personnel.
